What is anti- aging?
This is really simple once you understand what aging is. You might simply say the opposite of aging, right? Maybe!
What is aging? Aging is really what takes place when something stops growing. It is the opposite of growing. In truth in humans and all living things, it is called atrophy. Growth is called hyper-trophy. When you build a muscle, you know the muscles that hold your skeletal structure together, the ones that keep you from slouching over giving you bad posture, yeah, those muscles. You know the muscles that shrink in your face and all over your body that makes your skin sag, particularly though in the face, yeah, those muscles. People get face lifts, which is really skin tightening to compensate for the lack of muscles in the face that “used to” fill up the facial skin. So basically except for your organs, your appearance changes along with your abilities due to loss of muscle mass. Aging is more a loss of muscle mass, a ceasing of muscle growth and an actual atrophy of the muscles of the body, especially those that you don’t use.
What causes aging? This is simple. The human brain around 35 years of age or so, some earlier or some later gradually slows down and eventually stops releasing HGH or Human Growth Hormone. HGH, as you might have guessed, is what is responsible for your ability to increase muscle mass. This does not mean that if you have growth hormones you will become a body builder. That is an “abuse” of or “misuse” of HGH. Release of HGH occurs naturally in your body as does release of testosterone which also increases muscle growth and energy. Both together increase sex drive. This is where it gets interesting. Did you know that the same energy to procreate is the same energy you can use to re- creates yourself? Did you know that you can re-ignite the body’s ability to release those same growth hormones that started your growth process in your youth, to keep you young? Probably not. This is because you were told that the way to do it is through a door that is considered taboo. Your pro-creative organs are also re-creative organs. What I refer to as Restorative Sexuality is a way to create a Sacred Monogamous situation where two people can use a deeper understanding of the mysteries of the body that were, to an extent understood by ancient cultures and masters, to not only increase life quantity but improve life quality.
The Kundalini energy spoken of in Yoga is actually ctreated in a gland more often than not denied by science. What it does and what many have felt in my classes is help create and direct energy back up the spine. We do a lot of spinal stretching, alignment and strengthening which is essential for allowing the free flow of energy up and down the spine. The energy travels through the micro-cosmic orbit in Taoist practice. The same path is also used in Tantric practice. If you become skilled at this process which is taught at my workshops, you can learn to bring the energy up that will “naturally” allow the growth hormone HGH to be re-released into your system and to help the body to increases muscle building testosterone so you can “GROW YOUNG”.
There is no sense in increasing the quantity of life unless you are willing to increase the quality of life. The quality of life can only be increased if “consciousness’ is increased. If someone is suffering, what is the sense of prolonging their suffering? If someone’s life is also causing “others” to suffer, what is the sense of prolonging their life. Hurt people hurt people. There is far more psychological and stress pollution causing people to age than air pollution. So, consciousness, which is diametrically opposed to suffering, must be a main focus of growth. If you grow physically without growing consciously, you will end up “Strong like Bull, Dumb like Cow!” as is said in Chinese philosophy. To stop learning is also to stop growing. That is also a sign of aging. Another wonderful aspect of this process is the fact that this process increases brain function and learning capacity. It opens and assimilates the unused areas of the brain spoken of by Einstein. Ah, the opening of the 1000 petalled lotus! Goodbye Alzheimer's!
Speaking of STRESS!
Stress causes aging. It also causes a halt of the growth process, because it puts your body in the defensive mode. It channels your body’s energies into your immune system function and healing rather than growth. Modern Yoga is great actually more so for stress relief. It is important though to employ methods not only of stress relief but, more important, stress prevention.
