The Knights of Katango
Chivalry is not Dead!
Women of the World, would you like to see a return of Chivalry? Are you ready to be treated like a "Lady" again? Are you ready to be romanced again? Does your man or someone you know need a makeover? Here is the movement for you to support because here is the movement that supports you. Tell everyone you know Chivalry is back!!! Bring in your man and have him learn to be more attentive, learn to listen, to be more conscious and learn to dance "with you". Katango uses gender conscious tools and lessons simultaneously in class. We can teach your man and other men to dance using athletic and martial arts terms for him to easily grasp and feel comfortable. Meanwhile for you, we use dance and poetic terminology which hopefully he'll pick up too. Come in. Bring your friends. Help me help you.
I thank you for your interest and support,

THE KNIGHTS OF KATANGO
Like the knights of days gone by, like the samurai, a word in Japanese that actually means “servant”, and like our own marines we will live by a code of honor and respect. Unlike the Knights, Samurai, and Marines he is also a lover. He is at once a Knight in the European tradition of Chivalry and an Arabian Knight, passionate, romantic and wild. We live for love, for Love is God and God is Love. We constantly aspire to what is higher within ourselves, for ourselves, for the good of others. We are content to be thought foolish and stupid for the sake of improvement for as it says in the Tao, “One who cannot be weak cannot be strong!” We are drunk with love, wild and passionate. We are romantic! We dance! We set an example for all men to aspire to. We are whole, complete, the total package. We master ourselves spiritually, physically, psychologically, emotionally, socially, romantically, sexually and financially. These are the 8 Great Ways!
A Knight of Katango is a servant of all particularly the Goddess energy. It is sad, “He who would be great must be the servant!” He is a man who constantly improves and develops himself.
1. A Knight of Katango trains his body so that he is a blessing to his woman rather than a burden. His body is that of an athlete, a warrior, a dancer who realizes the only true battle, one of which is laziness, and competition is within him. His body must be capable of carrying out all the necessary chores of the home. He wants to offer her his best as she hers and wants to be pleasing to her eyes as well as her ears as she his. He must also be of good health to assist others in general because appearance is useless without ability and direction.
Because A Knight of Katango is both a Lover and a Warrior,
he will be taught basic dance and self-defense.
2. He must be aware and in control of his thoughts and feelings so as to temper himself well. This means he must learn to be relaxed under pressure so that he can rectify situations, restoring balance and harmony. Like steel, if he loses his temper, he loses his worth. Be aware though that anger is not wrong if it is directed towards the highest good. Remember Jesus in the Temple with the money changers. He must stand up and handle whatsoever difficulty threatens peace and serenity. It is not good for people to have stress, especially a woman. Her body and soul cannot be obstructed by this if she is to attain her highest ecstasy. He must also not play party to her doing that which destroys peace. One can never reward bad behavior and to condone or allow it is to reward it. This does not mean that one does not enjoy life and party like its’ 1999, go out on a limb or push the envelope. There is a time for peace, for passion, to party and if you really get it right, all three all at once. You can do what you like as long as what you are doing is not detrimental to others. Remember, this is the "all at once for the ONE in all".
3. He must temper himself sexually. Although he will learn and acquire great skills to give her “absolute pleasure” through the teachings, he must be monogamous. He must understand that his woman is his “doorway to the divine” and he hers. Their lovemaking is a sacred threshold to be honored.
4. A Knight of Katango must also be familiar with poetry, Rumi, Shakespeare, Kahlil Gibran, Rilke, John Donne, Emily Dickenson and Thoreau to name a few. He must have awareness of the great spiritual texts, the Tao te Ching, the Bhagavad-Gita the Bible and yes the Quran taking none of them literally if possible but if he partakes of a particular religious view, he must be respectful of those of others. He must have awareness of the works of the great philosophers and metaphysicians for instance Nietzsche, Descartes, Schopenhauer. Through these works he may form his own views and understandings, “while” being absolutely aware that it is his view and understanding and not “THE” view and understanding. He must always be learning and growing. He must be a good listener.
5. He must be able to entertain her. He “must” able to dance with her. This is the reason for the simplified Katango dance steps. He must have a sense of humor. A Knight of Katango can not be a tight lipped, whiny, Like Tao and Zen he must be able to flow from one situation to the next. Oh yes, Real Men cry. If you can not or do not on occasion cry because you have been conditioned to be stoic, I now tell you as a boxer, a martial artist and an athlete who followed the rule that if you get hurt, tape it up and get back out there etc., it is ok to cry. It’s the whining that is a problem. In fact if you have not found something in life that hasn’t made you cry, you haven’t looked deep enough into life and I am glad you are reading this.
So yes, this is a calling out, nay a challenge to all men who would call themselves men. How do you know you are a man? What determines this? It is simultaneously your contrast and yet your ability to complement the feminine energy. You must at once be firm in your masculinity yet aware of and sensitive to, the needs of your woman. A Knight of Katango is a gentleman who respects and honors women, the elderly and children. He allows them to go first, is attentive to their needs and is helpful whenever he can be for his strength is only strength if it benefits others. True power empowers. A Knight is also respectful of his fellow man for in as in women, children and the elderly, for in him is also the Great Spirit. He must basically be helpful of and for all.
Translation, do not wait to so who else will help another human being whose car is broken down or whose tire is flat, especially if it is a woman, an elderly or disabled person and especially if there are children present. You be the first to offer help to someone carrying something that looks too heavy for them again especially if it is a woman and if they are using two hands to carry that thing, even if they feel they can carry it, you get the door if needed. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.Treat all women you come in contact with, with the respect you would treat or give your mother, because all women are in fact a representative of the “Divine Mother” the Goddess Energy. This of course carries over everywhere exclusive of intimate encounters where you free and must be free to what she needs you to do to please your woman. Then you obviously do not treat a woman as you would treat your mother.
A Knight of Katango is a one who is sweet on the streets and wild in the sheets!
Along with the open Katango, Rebellious Wellness and Zen Body Sculpting classes and workshops where both men and women are welcome, there will be men only Knights of Katango classes and workshops available soon for the men who are too shy to learn around women.
Men can begin their training in the weekly Katango classes and progress to Knighthood if they choose.
I thank you for your interest and support,
