The Perfect Pilates and Yoga

Compliment and Companion

Why are Katango and the Stretch and Dee-Stress class the perfect compliment to Yoga and Pilates practitioners? Because both classes provide the necessary aerobic, cardio and deeper strengthening benefits especially in the hips, glutes, lower abs (deep core) and legs that are not focused on in even the more athletic Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Power Yogas. This takes over where these methods leave off. You can view them as more movement based “spicy” Yoga or Pilates or both “kicked up” a notch, or two!

What is great about the classes are the way they provide the brain with more oxygen and blood flow of aerobic and cardio in relaxed, meditative non-impact, fat burning movements that keep you in your flow. These moves actually allow you to burn more calories in 15 minutes than 45 minutes in a treadmill, or should I say “dreadmill”. The movements help you to develop “skills” and even athletic abilities rather than fruitless motions of an elliptical or other even more potent cardio machines. All this while burning at least 2x the calories and fat of those.

The fluid, soulful oxygenating and blood pumping movements help you develop great balance, coordination, strength and flexibility. They improve your ability to flow between asanas in your Yoga and be more precise and aware of your body movements in Pilates. How do I know this? You can ask the Yoga and Pilates instructors that currently do or have tried the classes. Most realize how important it is to add and apply not only movement but movement to rhythm to their practice. They say it takes them out of the box.

We focus on hip, spine and chakra opening, joint positioning and alignment. There is an in-depth focus on the deeper core strengthening and stability benefits of the martial arts influence which many do not realized evolved from Yoga.

The dance movements of Katango are simple, simple, simple. There is no complex choreography. You first learn to move, then move freely. This is a practice. You come to improve not to prove. The purpose of the movements are to develop coordination, body awareness and the ability to move, and move well in rhythm and ultimately to even mirror with a partner if you desire.

So what are the benefits?

1. Fat Burning Aerobic & Cardio plus Strength training and deeper core training in a relaxed meditative non-impact way that spares the bones and joints.

2. More necessary oxygen to the brain extended beyond what is provided by, and to improve your performance in, even the more athletic Yoga and Pilates' classes.

3. Not only stress relief but Prevention
